Summary
Haphazardly put up all over the front of Josuke’s fridge are various sorts of notes and pictures of him and loved ones—a meticulously posed shot of him and his mother at what Jotaro assumes must have been Josuke’s high school graduation, another one of nearly identical composition from his university ceremony. A strip of Josuke, Okuyasu, and Koichi in a photo booth, cheeks pressed together; a sketch from the old man of the Joestar estate sharing a magnet with a school portrait of Shizuka.
And then, a picture of Jotaro, one he doesn’t recognize.
He moves the magnet to pull it off the fridge and study the image. It’s not a real photograph, but a print of one—Jotaro doesn’t look particularly happy in it, standing stiffly before a podium with a severe, closed-off expression. He doesn’t recognize the venue, nor does the conservative suit he wears in the photograph provide any clues. It’s from sometime in the last two years, he would guess, but Jotaro gave any number of talks in nondescript venues wearing nondescript clothing, and he can’t imagine how Josuke got ahold of this shot of him from any one of them.

Summary
The faded smell of his cologne, the erotic plush of his lips, even his half stumble forwards when Jotaro reels him in with a fraction more force than he anticipates—everything about Josuke is always so startlingly present, achingly alive.
Brought chest to chest, Josuke’s heartbeat echoes against his own, except it feels like the reverse, like Jotaro has a stronger sense for Josuke’s vitality than his own. Jotaro's pulse primarily makes its home in his temple, against his skull; he’s had a headache since yesterday morning, and the pounding in his head is timed to his heartbeat, the two sharing the same unpleasant rhythm. It could be the lack of sleep or the Stand fight or maybe his quick exit and messy patch-up after, but the result is always the same, no matter the exact nuances of the cause.
Jotaro can only be certain he’s alive in all the small, uncomfortable sensations that act as uneasy confirmation—the ache in his head, the throb of an old scar, the sick slide of dread down his spine when he realizes yet again he’s fucked up something that he claimed to care about—let something fundamental inside himself go to rot.

Following a difficult case, Jotaro seeks solace in some unconventional ways.

“Feeling cautious?” Josuke asked.
Jotaro let his eyes trail up the tall, white column of the lighthouse, attention catching on the reflection of the sun against the glass structure for the light itself.
“Yes,” he said simply. Staring straight up like this, he felt something like vertigo, the sense of a free fall directly into the sky. The feeling swooped low in his stomach where it settled, casting his caution with a shadow.
He couldn’t think to attribute it to anything. The sun was too bright and the scene too mundane to inspire anything concrete. But he felt it like a strange warning, and he wanted Josuke on his guard. He wanted him in his line of sight, only a few paces away, even though by now Jotaro knew Josuke was more than capable of looking after himself.
Josuke only hummed an absent noise in response, waiting briefly for Jotaro to take his eyes from the crown of the lighthouse to follow him through its door and into the dark.

Four bodies in two months. An old lighthouse on an empty stretch of beach. And Josuke, his own sort of mystery, the one Jotaro feels the least equipped to solve.
Years after the summer of '99, an odd case brings Jotaro and Josuke together again.
