From his periphery, Javert saw how Valjean froze in place. “A taste of… me?”
“You were in prison, Valjean. You know exactly what it is I speak of.”
Valjean said nothing; only the wind howled around them, and with it Javert had his answer.

"Before Valjean could think, he rose too, grabbing onto Javert’s wrist. “Stay, Javert. I haven’t shown you my full appreciation yet,” he said, his thumb rubbing circles into the wrist. The situation had turned utterly absurd and was spiraling quickly out of control, but Valjean didn’t want to stop it. Not when Javert’s face was flushed a lovely pink and he looked completely dazed."
As Javert's suspicions grow, so too does Valjean's fear. In a desperate attempt to look less suspicious, Valjean (as Monsieur Madeleine) invites Javert to his home for supper to thank him for his hard work. Somehow, the inspector ends up on his back in Valjean's bed.
