Paul's a bit older in this fic (18, about to be 19) than the actual series so please squint and suspend disbelief. The original version of this fic, Truth Hurts, was written back in 2018, uploaded in 2022, and now in 2024 this revamped version will live on forever, I swear it.

And if he hadn't, they wouldn't be standing on opposite sides of the old treaty line, one flanking his Alpha, a lethal snarl ripping through his throat as a white-hot flame of rage burned inside him; and the other with her hand outstretched, skin glinting in the sunlight as sorrow and yearning and something predatory, something starving swam in the blood red of her eyes.
No, it wasn't supposed to be like this. Paul's missing girlfriend wasn't supposed to be a bloodsucker.
