    Disaster strikes when Batman and Robin go missing while investigating a mysterious ailment sucking the life out of Gotham’s masks. To save them, Nightwing and the Red Hood venture into the shadow world of the Neverwhere, where the spirits of friends and foes are locked in a battle for the soul of Gotham City. But the ghosts of their pasts refuse to let them go, and it will take everything they have to make it out alive.

    Or: The one where Robin cage-fights an Owl, Jason has an identity crisis, and Dick wonders whether this whole vigilante thing was ever a good idea. Oh, and the Batmobile might be sentient. Deathstroke is just along for the ride.

    He flinched at it, and tears suddenly filled his eyes for reasons he couldn’t even name. He took another deep breath and the tears spilled down his cheeks as he held Zitka close.

    He didn’t miss Bruce…did he?

    “God, I’m so angry at you!” Dick laughed, voice manic as he tossed his phone beside him on the concrete, on speaker, and brushed a hand wildly through his hair. “It’s always Jason this, Jason that’. Do I just not matter to you anymore? Did I ever? I don’t speak to you for months. Months Bruce! And you still have the audacity to ask about him first thing before even asking how I’m doing when I finally want to talk to you. Do you even understand how fucked up that is? How bad that hurts?"

When the kid just bared his teeth in what could be generously described as a grin, if one were to squint and generally have the vision quality of a mole, Jason turned back to the rapidly paling Tim. "You want to sweep the place for signs of Nightwing while I wrap things up with junior over here?"

    "Junior," the kid scoffed, which was real fucking rich for someone who was an inch or two from being strictly categorized as fun-sized. "Fuck off."

    "Hey, watch your mouth. Kids who don't know times tables aren't allowed to swear."

    "I can multiply just fine, jackass."

    "Hood," Tim cut in, voice squeaky like it'd been squeezed-compressed-squashed ten times over. "I don't need to keep looking for Dick. He's right there."

    or, who would've thought that a de-aged Dick would be really angry, really annoying, and really attached to Jason?

    (Bruce. Bruce would've thought. This might be his worst nightmare, actually.)
