Summary
In the forest there was a clearing, and in the clearing, there was a house. It’s made of wood and the roof is thatched. There is a small barn beside the home, just large enough to keep a chicken coop and some supplies. On the other side of the home there is a garden, well-tended and littered with bright flowers.
A woman watches a family play in front of this home. She stays hidden in the trees as the six children chase each other, laughing wildly. There is a fond smile on her face as she drinks in the scene before her.
She hopes one day she can tell them this story. That there was a time when they were happy, and carefree, and alive. She will tell them that the summer was warm, and bright, the wind was cool, and gentle.
She will tell them that there was a time—a brief wonderful time—when their parents called them in for supper, they were not afraid. That their mother and father embraced each child, running their fingers through the children’s hair, with their eyes glowing with love.
She will tell them that their lives started with love, not pain.
That will have to be later, though, because the Mikealson’s haven’t met her yet. But they will.
They are her destiny, after all.
