Summary
Music used to be their religion. They would meet in Church (Steve's garage) every weekend to worship whatever 70s rock band they were into at the time, usually Black Sabbath, singing along to the scratchy hymns that came through the record player. Their music.
Steve swears up and down that Eddie was the one that changed back then. At least that's what he tells Robin when she asks him, "You were friends with Eddie Munson?"
