i have a headcanon that obanai is often in a ton of pain because of his facial scar and once the other hashira eventually learn about it, if they see him cradling his face or hear him wincing and croaking im pain, they help accordingly. with the type of scar obanai has there isnt really much they can do aside from provide him some support and stay with him… its a scar that resulted from having his mouth slit to his ears and it isnt something they typically encounter. he is in pain 24/7 (facial pain/mouth pain is extremely intense) … hes always suffering ):

Every time he hears a sound, Obanai thinks it’s Kyojuro coming to visit him, telling him that he’s sorry it took so long, but that he’s fine.
But that hope is slowly turning into ash scattered in the wind, never to return, but some of it enters his lungs, choking him with sorrow. Obanai closes his eyes, feeling warm tears running down his cheeks — they leave a trail of regret on his skin. It hurts him to cry, because it means accepting his death, and he doesn't. He forces himself to stop crying, to keep everything locked inside his chests, no matter how much it hurts.
