You were going to see Mama today, after almost half a year.
Well, it’s not like you had been living with her before that, really. It was always on and off, traveling from your grandparents to Mama.You did that a lot because Mama still wasn’t well, even though it had been a bunch of years since what happened.
When you were back home living with her, she was tired, always tired. She slept a lot, sometimes not even making it back to her bed, choosing to rest on the old, worn-out couch instead. The TV would buzz in the background; some reality show you were too young to understand was playing. You would always coat her in your light purple blanket with hot pink stars, even if it was your favorite blanket.You would always notice the empty bottles of wine on the floor right beneath her.
