Summary
The picnic basket creaks when Mark leans over it, a hand cupping his mouth when he whispers, “Are you sure you wanna do this? I could be a serial killer.”
When he leans closer like this, the sunlight reflects on the clean crystal of his glasses. It looks like he’s got the sun between his eyelashes.
Donghyuck thinks, well, you’re lucky you’re pretty.
He says, “You’re lucky you’ve got free food, Mark Lee. You got yourself an easy victim.”

Bookmarker's Notes
Donghyuck doesn’t wait for Mark to feed him. He grabs the cherry from Mark’s fingers and tugs it off the stem with his teeth, getting some juice on his fingers. He’s making a mess again, sticky from head to toe in a mix of saltwater, sunscreen, soda, and cherry juice.
Mark doesn’t look grossed out at all, though. He sits clean and pretty underneath Donghyuck, his eyes two black circles that can’t meet Donghyuck’s, but can’t look away from him, either.
He’s looking at Donghyuck’s fingers now, at the stem between the tips, at the juice dripping down the back of his hand. Mark stares in silence and swallows like he wants to lean closer and find out tongue-first what Donghyuck’s skin tastes like.

Summary
Jisung walks over to Mark with a twisted smile on his lips. He cradles Mark's hand to force the green velvet box closed, just so the shine of the ring stops threatening to blind him. He wraps stiff arms around Mark's body, presses guilt-dirty hands to his back, and whispers an uglily forced, "Yeah, sure. Congrats, hyung," into his brother's sweaty hair.
Mark laughs his high-pitched giggle into the crook of Jisung's neck, back straightened up to throw his arms around his shoulders, feet bending at the tips because it is now Jisung the one who's always a bit too out of reach. Jisung would swallow mud a million times to get him laughing like this.

Bookmarker's Notes
“Sungie,” Jaemin’s voice breaks him out of his thoughts, sweet like cotton candy and incredibly close as he leans over the coffee table, one of his arms stretched out to squeeze Jisung’s right knee gently. “Moping around all day won’t fix anything.”
“There’s nothing to fix,” Jisung mumbles, his voice thick when it rolls out of his tongue quietly.
His throat is starting to hurt, his neck getting tense with the effort of holding back tears. The way Jaemin is looking at him doesn’t make things any easier. He’s smiling softly, lips pressed tight together and the corners of his eyes tugged down. It takes Jisung back to the day he buried himself between the sheets of his bed in his family house after he saw Mark and Donghyuck kissing for the first time, summer sky blooming orange around them in the front porch like the beautiful colors of one of Monet’s paintings.
Jaemin was the one to drag Jisung out of bed that day like he’s trying to drag him out of the apartment today. Although he was a lot more gentle and patient back then—light fingers running through Jisung’s hair until he stopped crying, gentle hands on Jisung’s face as he stroked his cheeks dry, never asked any questions—he’s just as sweet today.

Summary
Jisung squeezes Chenle’s waist to try and soothe him. “Hey, it’s okay,” he says. Though it brings heat to his cheeks, he adds, “If you need a fake date for whatever party your family was talking about, I’ll go. I really don’t mind.”
It’s silly, the thought of parading around with Chenle pretending to be a couple. They’re friends, and they fuck. There's nothing romantic about them.
But Jisung can’t stand to see Chenle in distress like this.

Hyuck?” Chenle cries. “You’re both here?”
He backs up to let two people in, throwing Jisung an apologetic look over his shoulder. They don’t make it far, though, both freezing in the entryway when they notice Jisung lingering awkwardly.
“Um,” says the guy who spoke before. “Who’s this?”
The other gives Jisung a careful once-over, and his mouth slowly falls open. Before Jisung, Chenle, or the first guy can speak, he goes, “Oh my god. I knew it.”
Chenle groans, bringing a hand up to his forehead. “Renjun, don’t—”

Summary
The words register with a delay and they run like frigid water down his back. He wraps his fingers around Kenta’s forearms. You. You’ll get out of here. His panic sharpens in a blunt, stubborn refusal. “No.”

He presses the phone to his ear as he keeps walking – he tries to think about the layout of the building, the winding alleys that surround it. He’s limping slightly, but he can’t pinpoint to the origin of it.
“Hello?”
Kim swallows against the words he has to say, heart beating wildly in his chest. “They have Kenta.”

Bookmarker's Notes
A few seconds of silence drag past, Nolan clearly debating, but when he speaks, there isn’t the judgement, or resentment, that Theo had been expecting. Instead there’s just a tired, quiet sort of understanding, which; Theo flinches, feeling it like a knife between his ribs.
“You did that on purpose,” he concludes softly. “Making Liam angry with you. You did that on purpose.”
Theo can’t help it; he has to curl back up, and over the vulnerable core of himself, his shoulders rounding and his back hunching. “Yeah, well,” he replies eventually. “It’s better for everyone if he stays that way.”
