    He needs to tidy up a few loose ends before that happens.

    Namely: her.

    She thought he needed her protection. And for that, she has to die. He hates her. That’s what he tells himself.

    He steals into her room one night, wraps his fingers around her throat. Feels the delicate flutter of her pulse under his fingertips.

    He wants more of her, in ways he can't describe. This feeling is like the most potent drug in the world dripping into his veins.

    It's heresy. Blasphemy against everything Viltrum stands for. Disgusting. He is a disgrace.
