Bernie never fully recovered from her injuries and following a bad fall she is recovering very slowly in hospital, sadly she develops sepsis and is taken to a nursing home for palliative care to end her days surrounded by her loved ones. I couldn't write her death (this time) but the aftermath (again). Eleanor and Cameron are alive but non-cannon. -

Bernie had been encouraged to put her thoughts and experiences in another journal, this one dealing with how she was feeling mentally and physically after her recent incarceration in Somalia, this takes place before going back to see Cameron. Rather than write it, both Serena and Alex (in my world she and Alex were still friends, despite her going back to Serena), encouraged her to speak into a tape recording, on the one condition she didn’t delete anything she spoke. Thus this is a very makeshift first-person narrative.- Language:

Summary
Starts with Delia's accident, but she stays in London during her recovery instead of returning to Wales. Most major characters will be mentioned or featured at some point.
Honestly, this will be mostly very slow torture as Delia recovers. I don't plan to include anything that wouldn't be appropriate in the show, but I will add specific content warnings at the start of chapters if necessary. What with the period, homophobia is a given, unfortunately.

Summary
When a few years into their relationship Bernie is asked to go back to the army and deploy Serena isn't sure how she's going to get through the nine months without her girlfriend. What she doesn't expect is for it to be her girlfriend who has the perfect set of surprises to get her through both the best and the worst days.
Canon divergent - Elinor lives (well actually the accident never happens), Raf lives, and Cameron isn't a total ass! The staff of AAU also probably didn't all work on there at the same time in canon but do in this!
The fic is already fully written with the first few chapters having already been Beta'd. 27 chapters including the epilogue. Hoping to post every Monday and Friday!
