The concept of kindred spirits was quite hackneyed and popular. So much so that the word "soulmate" has become, in a sense, a cliche.
And not that Rui believed in this outright nonsense. But even the thought of a possible "soulmate" made all sorts of "butterflies in the stomach" tremble.
And somewhere in the depths of his soul, Rui knew perfectly well who his soulmate was.

Shirafuji lowers his book with his brow raised, sending the patron a curious look.
“Finding everything alright?” He asks, keeping the book held up, occasionally glancing down at the words to try and not lose his spot.
“No thanks to you.” Nakayama groans, unloading three books down onto the checkout counter. Shirafuji breaks out into an eager grin, setting his open book down and sliding Nakayama’s over by the register.

For about ten minutes, Rui sat and read at his desk, ignoring how his headache intensified, his face and felt as if it was on fire.
Meanwhile, his body felt as if it had been buried in snow for hours.
After another minute, Rui realized he couldn’t handle it anymore. As much as he truly wanted to ignore how weird he felt, he just couldn’t.
Rui thought about his symptoms.
Dry throat, sneezing, mucus dripping out of nose, headache, and drastically different body temperature.
He had a fever.
He was really sick.
And he felt horrid.

Her ears lay flat on her back at the memory of it. So naturally Emu makes it his mission to help her out commencing "Prince Emu and his loyal tutor Tsukasa’s harahara dokidoki observation trip of her lover’s tactics to finally get her to give her a big ol’ smooch! ☆".
It turns out the real reason isn't that big of an issue.
