In-game we meet the crew when they're already established, but I imagine that the first time some of them meet had unexpected results.

Fwd: Fwd: Subject: Prothean Hypothesis: Human Secondary Sex Differentiation by madejonore
Fandoms: Mass Effect - All Media Types

Summary
This document outlines a speculative hypothesis regarding the origin of human secondary sex differentiation (sire-class, dam-class, packmate). The hypothesis proposes that sire- and dam-class biology represents engineered trait stabilisation by Prothean agents, with packmate phenotypes arising from cross-breeding between populations and other humanoid species.

UNDERSTANDING HUMANS: A PRACTICAL GUIDE FOR CITADEL RACES by madejonore
Fandoms: Mass Effect Trilogy, Mass Effect - All Media Types

Summary
Most species joining the galactic community bring with them biology that, while unique, maps onto a familiar framework. Asari reproduce through melding. Turians have a clan-based social order. Salarians have a very short lifespan and an extremely high metabolism. These differences are significant, but they're the kind of differences you can learn in an afternoon.
Humans are different.
Not because they are especially complicated, but because a substantial proportion of the human population operates on a biological framework that has no equivalent anywhere else in the known galaxy. Understanding that framework isn't optional if you plan to work alongside humans professionally, live near them, or provide medical care to them. Getting it wrong won't just cause offence. In some cases, it can cause serious harm.
This guide is practical, not academic. It will not teach you human biochemistry. It will teach you what you need to know to avoid making costly errors.Series

Summary
This encyclopaedia covers terms, concepts, and biological processes specific to human sub-sex that have no direct equivalent in other species, or that carry precise meanings within this system that differ from ordinary usage. Where a term or process applies only to sire- or dam-class, this is noted. Entries are presented A–Z and cross-referenced where relevant.
Readers encountering an unfamiliar term in either companion document are encouraged to look it up here first

Summary
This document is intended for qualified medical practitioners, researchers, and academic professionals working with human patients or subjects. It assumes clinical competency in your own species' biology and builds from that baseline. It is not a substitute for supervised clinical training in human reproductive medicine. Where uncertainty exists, defer to a human physician or PAF medical liaison.
