"For you. Happy Valentines!" Roz walked away, a smirk on her face as he stared at the little pink envelope now sat in his lap. Barbara's stare fell on Jacob, looking a little less taken aback than him, but still shocked.
After a few more seconds of just staring at it like it would explode, Barbara placed a hand on his shoulder. "Are you going to open it, then?"
This startled Jacob out of his dumbfounded stupor and he fumbled with the envelope, opening it only to see a few words written in cursive and a lollipop.
I want to be yours, and I'm trying to be deserving of it.

Morton went to close the door but struggled as Jacob moved to stand in the way, trying to gather his words to sound somewhat normal. “Uh, um, hi.”
“…is that it? Hi?” He crossed his arms, staring down the history teacher.
“No— no, well, yes, but…” Jacob’s voice trailed off, giving Morton another glance up and down. “You don’t look good.”
The science teacher narrowed his eyes before taking a breath. “I’m closing the door now.”

“Robby doesn’t even have a team,” Whitaker complained, and the lack of honorific was so obvious in hindsight, though right then Dana had hardly questioned when the resident had gotten so comfortable with the attending. “He just roots for whoever is playing against Philly.”
“City loyalty,” Robby emphasized again, causing the younger man to roll his eyes once more and huff out an exasperated sigh.
“Sorry, kid,” Dana offered to Whitaker. “I’m with Robby on this one. Fuck Philly.”
