The War is over and Draco can finally let himself breathe. The problem is, it seems like he's driving people away again, and he can't go back to being alone. It would kill him.
No matter! He'll just put more effort into being someone worth sticking around for. More polite, more reserved, more palatable to his peers. He'll do whatever it takes to never feel that haunting loneliness ever again. Even if it means going stargazing all alone.
(Even if it means Potter stares at him from afar like a kicked puppy.)

On July 4, 2018, Ilya announces to the world that he has already played his last home game on Boston Raider ice. He's an Ottawa Centaur now, for better or for worse.
Most all of Boston Twitter agrees it's for worse.
Shane Hollander, watching alone on his couch at the cottage that Ilya just left a few days ago, knows it's for the better. And he thinks he knows that Ilya thinks it's for the better too, that Ilya's excited for the move, excited to be closer to Shane. It's just hard to remember that when Ilya looks so distracted and sad in the wake of the news breaking.
But one day, Shane's going to promise this man that he'll be there for him through better or worse, so he may as well start practicing now.

“Eeleeyah, come to my cottage,” Ilya mocks, voice muffled by Shane’s skin. “Don’t go to Russia. Come to my house instead. Is so private. No one will know…we will be completely alone. Together.”
“Oh my god, is that Ilya Rozanov?” the intruder yelps like he's about to start hyperventilating. “Why is Ilya Rozanov half-naked in our kitchen, Shane?”
“Okay, I know how this looks,” Shane tells Ilya, “But I mean, technically, we are still alone. Together.”

“Oh, I’m not sure you’re supposed to smoke here,” Hollander said as Ilya grabbed his hand. He had forgotten he was even smoking.
“Okay,” replied Ilya. With his other hand, he quickly pulled the cigarette from his mouth and let it hang between his fingers. He didn’t let go of Hollander.
“You’re an awesome player to watch,” Hollander’s eyes shifted to their hands.
