Summary

Summary
18-year-old Brioche Janné has nearly aged out of her eligibility in the Reaping. With only seven slips of paper to her name, the odds are slim, but most definitely not in her favor when she is called to compete in the 51st Annual Hunger Games. With last year's showstopping Quarter Quell, no one knows what this year may have in store for the unlucky tributes. Her male counterpart, Rye Chayote, who is the 13-year-old brother of her childhood best friend, is ill with a seemingly incurable disease. District Nine, by all odds, should be done for. However, a reclusive miner from District Twelve has other plans; not to mention the charming Career from District One, who may be just a bit too intriguing to escape Brioche's attention.

Summary
James Costa lives the life of a pirate. Things are about as well as they could be while trapped in the open sea with obnoxious crewmates, the captain being manipulated by his right hand man and lover, and unpredictable weather. So, conditions aren't that good, but hey; at least there's riches involved! There were only a few more days until they reached home, and the chances of something happening were slim.
Slim, but never zero.
Mermaids weren't supposed to be real, and James wasn't supposed to be assigned the task of keeping one alive until they reached the shore. His real problem? Getting to know the being caught in a fishing net, and what came with it.

A curious mistake finds Aiden trapped in a strange contraption he didn't know the name of, with a smug human watching over him. Reciprocating the stranger's efforts to get to know him would be a mistake; Aiden had a habit of making those.
