Perhaps the most heartbreaking consequence of this promise to erase Andrea is that the expensive clothes are wasted. Stuffed to the back of her closet, because she is unable to look at them. (In her weaker moments, she puts the clothes on and imagines they still smell like Andy. Even though she knows it is a lie.)
