“So,” Ilya says, dragging the word out. He’s swiping at non-existent crumbs on the counter, avoiding his eyes. “You have dinner at parents on Christmas, yes?”
“Yeah.”
Ilya nods. “I can house-sit while you are away. Make place pretty, if you have decorations. Make it less boring.”
Shane’s eyebrows fly up. “What? You don’t want to come with?”
Finally, Ilya looks up at him. Hesitantly, he asks, “You want me to come with?”
Frowning, Shane says, “I– yeah. Yeah, of course. You think I invited you here just so you could spend Christmas alone?”
Looking away, Ilya shrugs. “I am intruder here, Hollander. You have family. I do not. Makes situation… difficult, maybe. You forget the world thinks we are rivals.”
“Not difficult,” Shane says immediately. “You want to come, you’re coming.”
Or: Ilya's in Montreal alone during the week leading up to the Winter Classic. Shane doesn't let him spend Christmas alone.

A few seconds of silence passed, "I will not let him die here."

“Michael”, the calm voice snapped. There was a sense of finality to its tone. Purple hair, apparently called Michael, let out a frustrated noise.
"Guys,” that was Luke, again.
“I know.”
Ashton was about to wonder what the calm voice knew, when all his thoughts were violently pushed to a hard stop as soft lips bumped against the shell of his ear, the sensation nearly overtoning the hushed “I am sorry” that followed.or a drunk walk home is destined to change Ashton's life forever.

Summary
"I know who he is." The boy, Ashton, commented, closing his book. Not sparing Calum a single look, he hopped off his chair and started walking towards the back door of the room. His movements were rigid, tense as if Calum had offended him personally by just his presence. Which confused Calum more than it should’ve if he was being honest. Normally people were easy for Calum. He got along with almost everyone he met from the go. Not so Ashton. Ashton seemed to detest him and Calum had no idea why.
or Calum is the undisputed king of his high school, Ashton speaks through colours, Luke doesn't let anybody touch him and Michael is so getting killed by for hiding that snake in their teacher's drawer.

It was then that Michael realised two things. First off the boy on the ground was gorgeous. All fair skin and scrawny limbs, golden hair styled into a faux hawk and mesmerising eyes, coloured a clear, sharp blue. He was breath-taking in a subtle way that didn't call for attention. Secondly the boy on the ground wore a yellow band around his upper arm, three black spots explaining why he wasn't fighting back. He couldn't. The boy was beautiful. The boy was blind.

Luke fucks up again. He wouldn’t have minded if what he got back in return was Calum having to ban his very important hot showers that lasted more than an hour, because okay, fine. He gets that a lot. He would’ve deserved that so much because he’s just equally stupid as the person who “accidentally” got himself caught up in a publicity stunt. And yeah, that’s him. And Michael, the person he has heart-eyes for, is totally avoiding him because of it.

Luke will never forget the first time he saw him. He was standing there in his natural place, behind the bar, fiddling around with different bottles with different liquids in them in all sorts of colors, but that’s not what caught Luke’s attention.
He was beautiful. His hair was such a bright red and his eyes flickered, the changing lighting reflecting in them and his smile, Luke is willing to swear that it could light up a whole town. When he looked in Luke’s direction for a split second, his heart stopped beating for what seemed like a whole hour.
He didn’t even know the guy, but he definitely wanted to.
Or the one where Luke definitely doesn't have a crush on the bartender with the flaming red hair. Michael has the prettiest eyes and a troubled past and Calum and Ashton are determined to make this the best summer of their lives.
