Strictly speaking, Joe doesn’t date omegas.
His parents have been drilling that notion into his skull since he’s presented at the age of fifteen: an omega is serious business. The risk of heat-bonding is always too high, and no one wants to deal with an alpha acting like an idiot because they can’t get over their stupid, primal urges. They don’t live in the Dark Ages anymore. There are suppressants and shit.
So, no, Joe doesn’t date omegas. But he definitely doesn’t pass an opportunity to fuck one.
It’s March 2020, and Joe is a young alpha on the last week of his backpacking trip through Italy.
Before heading home, he makes one last stop in the city of Genoa, where he meets a beautiful omega named Nicky at an underground party. They hit it off right away, and Nicky takes Joe back to his place. The sex is mind-blowing, but it’s supposed to just be a one-night stand.
That’s until they wake up to the news of the Lockdown.

He wouldn’t say that sometimes, quite often really, getting out of Heaven felt like shrugging off a too-tight, scratchy jumper. That he always felt just a little more at ease, a little more himself, when he was away from them all.
