It all comes down to Rook knowing what it’s like to have your path handed to you like a poisoned chalice. One you never asked for but still have to drink from because, ha, lucky fucking you. One that keeps yanking you forward even when you dig your heels in, even when you’d rather just let someone else take the reins for once. And Lucanis walks that same cursed road, he does.
They are both pretty awful at romance, likely because Rook set the standard—and that would explain a lot.
