Summary
“Only until it stops,” Jamal says.
Flo’s eyes snap to his. The words surprise Jamal too. They sound like a boundary. They sound like a lie.
“Nothing else,” Jamal adds, because one of them has to say it. Because the shape of the night needs edges. Because if he names the line out loud, maybe he can still pretend he is not already halfway over it.
Flo nods immediately. Too quickly.
“Nothing else,” he says.
After a year of silence, injury, and almost-goodbyes, Jamal has plans for seeing Flo again. He has breathing exercises, boundaries, and every reason to know better. Then the storm comes, and all his careful lines blur.

Summary
It’s Christmas Eve in Liverpool, and Flo can’t stop running—from the city, from his father, from himself, and most of all, from Jamal.
But on nights like this, when the city flickers like a dying signal and everything feels bruised with memory, he gives in.
Just for a moment. Just long enough to pretend he’s still allowed to want.
Inspired by the song "Merry Christmas, Please Don’t Call" by Bleachers.
