Short vignettes from Shane and Ilya’s life set two years after getting married, discussing a few things from their past over champagne, cake, more tuna melts, borscht, mint tea, and an extra serving of pasta.
1. Champagne - Shane and Ilya are in Vegas for the NHL awards.
2. Cake - Ilya throws Harris and Troy a stag party at a nightclub which brings up memories for Shane.
3. Tuna Melts - After a day out with the Pikes, Jackie suggests they have tuna melts for supper.
4. Russian Medicine - Shane has the flu, and Ilya is struggling to recreate his mother’s borscht.
5. Pasta - Sunday dinner at the Hollander’s home reveals a little secret Shane had been hoping to keep.
Notes: Shane likes to talk when there’s something lowering his inhibitions a bit. Ilya is a lover boy to the max. Very domestic. Very sweet. Fluffy. A few shared apologies. Hopefully funny. Some angst here and there. Nothing explicit, but Shane is definitely down bad. Set a couple of years post TLG and RM. Mostly based on book canon, except part 5. Can be read in or out of order. Very minimal hockey.

Summary
Exhaustion had never hit Ilya quite like this before. He always expected a mid-season slump; anyone would after months of grueling physical activity. But these last few years in Ottawa—they've drained Ilya.
Sure, they've started winning more. They aren't exactly scrapping the bottom of the barrel anymore, but playoff hopes were still a ways away. And, for Stanley Cup champion Ilya Rozanov who ate, slept, and breathed winning, it sort of felt like his soul was being slowly sucked out of his body.
It was all worth it to be closer to Shane. Of course it was. It was so, so worth it to see him and hold him more than four times during the season and in stolen moments during the summer that Ilya clung to like a lifeline. He would do it all over again and again and again, just to see Shane—his Shane—smile.
But he wishes it wasn't so fucking exhausting.
or; ilya is very tired after a long roadie and after a fight with dallas kent on the ice, he accidentally tells a room full of reporters that all he wants to do is go take a very long nap with his boyfriend.
