Summary
Feeling scared when first seeing a ghost is only natural, of course, but remaining scared when the ghost in question is Arnold Rimmer... well, that's just silly.
Rimmer doesn't lend himself to horror movie narratives or ghastly stories told around smouldering campfires. On the contrary in fact, with the exception of being non-corporeal – and vaguely translucent in certain lights – he's just another bloke in the house share really, as far as Lister's concerned.
In many respects he's not even that, since he doesn't contribute to the rent.
---
Lister, a twenty-something-year-old art college student slash shopping trolley attendant, finds out pretty quickly upon moving into an old rundown Georgian terraced house that he and his friends are not the property's only residents. There's an irate ghost already living there who is seemingly hellbent on being the world's most annoying housemate.

Summary
It's been twenty-one days, three hours and thirty-six minutes since Rimmer became the owner of a pair of matching engagement rings. Since then he's been biding his time waiting for the perfect moment to ask Lister the question he so desperately wants to ask.
The path to that perfect moment, as it transpires, is anything but easy.

Summary
His bunkroom on board Red Dwarf is vastly smaller than any sleeping quarters he’s lived in up until now.
It's compact, lacking space in a way that most people would find inconvenient, and coloured in a dull shade of ocean grey that makes the whole room appear somehow even more cramped than it actually is.
It's drab, clinical, positively depressing and, as far as Arnold Judas Rimmer is concerned, absolutely perfect.
___
A look at Rimmer through the places he's called "home" over the years, and what exactly calling somewhere "home" means to him.

Summary
Rimmer can't imagine that being forced to watch as someone you care about slowly dies before your very own eyes is easy...
It's a good job, then, that the only person actively dying right now is Lister, because Rimmer couldn't care less about him!
____
In a cold, confined space with nobody except the man he despises most in the world for company, Rimmer can't help but loathe the silence that falls between them.

Summary
Tables don't do that.
He doesn't know why his mind arrives at that conclusion. It's ludicrous after all, of course tables do that. It's a natural thing, it just happens sometimes. There are only three things certain in life: death, taxes and the fact that your dining table will occasionally forget that it's corporeal and will conspire with your crockery to inconvenience you. That's just how the world works. That's just how things are.
That's just what tables do.
____
John Smith's life is absolutely perfect, until it isn't.
