During the events of Hoppers, Mabel's left arm is broken and we never see how it happened or who paid for the treatment. However, Jerry asks Mabel how her arm is.
So, this is a prologue snippet showing Jerry and Mabel in the ambulance together after he indirectly caused her to break her own arm.

Summary
And just like at the end of every spring, when flowers wither and fall to the ground, it went the exact same way for Mayor Jerry Generazzo. Prompted by the sudden realization brought on by a broken condom, Jerry realized he had far greater priorities than Mabel; unwilling to give up his career for her, he decided to cut ties and close that chapter of his life. Mabel thus sank into a suffocating emotional dependency on him, completely unaware that she was pregnant.
But a far bloodier plague is about to fall upon the people and animals of Beaverton. Facing such a threat, everything is easier when you have friends and rebels by your side. Yet, the impending danger will change every rule: she who was once a victim will become a huntress to keep everyone safe, and he who has always lived in pride will finally have to learn to come to terms with responsibility and, above all, with love.
