Summary
The Holy Kingdom of Faerghus has been left in a state of disarray in the years following King Lambert's death, with the nobility reduced to infighting in an attempt to gain power and the threat of civil war if the future of the crown is not secured. Prince Dimitri is finally poised to take the throne, for the sake of his kingdom, but if he truly wishes to offer security to the people he will need an heir, preferably one with a crest.
Fortunately, the archbishop has found a likely candidate to be his wife. Unfortunately, Dimitri thinks he might be falling in love with her brother.

Summary
The letter was meant to be naught but a formality, really.
The archbishop had done this since the Kingdom’s founding, after all.
So it was no surprise that Dimitri’s court was thrown into near chaos when the reply letter from Garreg Mach returned…with a rejection.
---
Despite Dimitri's love for his professor, he believes it is his duty to have a queen by his side and continue the Blaiddyd line, so he parts from him. A year later, after reluctantly choosing a bride, he sends the ceremonial letter to the new archbishop requesting him to officiate the royal wedding. When Byleth rejects, Dimitri heads to Garreg Mach to find out why.
