For a moment, there is nothing else. A long moment. Long enough that Fenris realizes he will not be able to stonewall his way out of this conversation. “...what?”
Varric rolls his eyes, but there is still that same friendly affection in it — something that is still jarring for the elf, in a way. “You know what, Broody.”
But, still, there is only silence. What is he supposed to say?
Fenris is surprised, just a bit, that it is Anders that breaks the awkward quiet — directly and with no inflection that gives anything away. Not judgment. Not even curiosity. Just pure confirmation of a simple fact: “Have you ever kissed anyone?”
It is almost, almost a courtesy. Or, it would be, if Fenris didn’t know any better.
Isabela shoots the healer a look through her brow and it is hard to parse through the layers of irony that she wears like makeup. “Well, I don't imagine slaves have a lot of time for making out, Anders.”
“You should see what happens in the Circle…”

The scrying eye comes to a sudden halt. Then, it changes course — slowly inching its way towards Faerffyn and their cohort — as if both suddenly sentient and, with that, unsure.
It is still somewhat surprising to Gortash, even though he's the one with the hand on the controls.

Oh, Alistair knows. He absolutely knows. The king has been pulled aside by countless advisors — either knock up the apostate or throw her back in the Circle or the Deep Roads. Each time, he thinks briefly of the Hellish figure of the broodmother — her unnaturally swollen belly. The throne is no place for a witch.
“Mm,” Alistair replies helpfully, because his mouth can't form anything else. “That's… something."
The queen sighs, long-suffering and put upon. “It’s an obligation, my lord,” she snarks with a roll of large, dark eyes. “You are familiar with the concept, yes?”
He thinks only of black ink hair and elven ears. “Intimately.”
Perhaps, the wrong word for this particular discussion.

Not entirely true. Faer had called for an attendant. They would've sooner called for Haarlep. Were they supposed to walk through the House naked upon realizing none of their clothes fit? “With the expectation that…”
They sigh, and realize quickly it’s not worth the argument. It never is in this House — they learned that quick enough.
“Whatever. Just—...forget it,” they concede, clutching the satin fabric to their frame as tightly as they can. Each word feels like an admission — a confession — even if it shouldn't. “Look, I need— I need new clothes.”
They feel embarrassed — and they know they shouldn't, for a multitude of reasons.
If only because it'll make whatever he has planned for them that much worse.
