A voice from his dreams. No, from his wildest fantasies, imagined so many times over the past ten, fifteen, almost twenty freakin’ years called to him, a goddamn siren song he would gladly drown himself to. A towering figure stepped out from the shadows and into the flashing, neon lights, his striking features thrown in sharp relief. It was like a scene out of a movie; whether it was an action flick, or a romance, or the greatest porno ever, it was all the same to Majima.
“Kiryuuuu-chan!” Majima trilled, his voice made big and loud with the growing feeling inside of him. His rictus grin, pulled back in wild, animalistic impulse, transformed into something damn near happy. Kiryu-chan was here. It was really him.

"This is pretty sudden.." Despite what he'd just said, he couldn't deny that he was enjoying it."Majima-San." Kiryu murmured again, and he'd lifted the hand he had on his cheek to adjust the other's eyepatch instead,
"It was falling." He said simply.Majima grabbed his wrist, "It's getting late, ain't it? I'll be on my way."
"Stay the night." Kiryu whispered.
"Haw?"
"It's cold. Stay the night." He repeated, "You.. You've been shivering since we got here."

“Ivan!”
Till sinks to his knees next to him, panicked hands hovering over the wound in his chest. Ivan gasps raggedly. If he really wanted to, he could make himself breathe just fine, but if he’s going to go out like this it might as well be dramatic.
“Till,” he croaks, pressing one of Till’s hands to the bullet wound. Till gathers him into his arms and ooh that’s nice, especially since he’s not actually in pain.
“What?” Till says shakily. There are unshed tears in his eyes. Uh, maybe Ivan should take it down a notch. An idea forms in his head.
“This–” Ivan coughs up some more blood involuntarily. Dammit. “This…truly was… our Alien Stage, Till.”
Till drops him in disgust.

Ivan's been lucid dreaming since he was a kid. He can confidently say none of those dreams have ever been this convoluted.

Summary
Mermaids are historically celebrated. Of course they are–they’re beautiful creatures, after all. Beings with the upper half of a human, and their lower half being that of a fish, scales glittering and shining as light strikes through the water, singing songs that could fill even the most dour of people with confidence and joy. Seeing a flash of color alongside your boat was seen as a blessing, that the mermaids were in agreement with your travel, that they blessed you with safe passage through the waters.
