“Yeah, I’m fine,” she replies almost on instinct, her tone surprisingly light. “I’ve had worse tumbles.”
Before he can register what that might mean, she steps towards the cell bars, and he can feel his throat close up upon seeing her face, the world around him grinding to a halt.
