Summary
As Deacon deals with being trapped in the Institute’s confines and what that means for both the Commonwealth and himself, those he left behind in the Wasteland band together to aid his escape in any way that they can. Will they find help in an unexpected ally in the form of another fabled vault dweller? Or will they find that as the Brotherhood of Steel makes themselves known in the Commonwealth, the Sole Survivor of Vault 111 can't be relied on as a friend? And with the Brotherhood bearing down on the Commonwealth looking for the Institute, can the remnants of the Railroad, Minutemen, and the settlements of the Commonwealth band together to fight the incursion or will they share the same fate as the Capital Wasteland?

Neither one of her companions wants the NCR or the Legion to win, but of the two, the NCR is better. When she asks about House leading an independent New Vegas, the Caravanner scoffs,
“Mr. Not-At-Home? Yeah, that sounds like a great idea.”
And the Follower says the same thing much more diplomatically,
“Look, I’m all for an independent New Vegas. The NCR aren’t that great because they don’t care about the people in the Mojave, but it’s pretty apparent that Mr. House doesn’t either. If he did, Freeside wouldn’t be in the shape it's in. Never mind the communities to the north and west of New Vegas’ walls. I think we’d all be better off without Mr. RobCo running the show.”
“If House took better care of the people of Mojave, would you be okay with him winning in the end?” Ark asks.
“Well, yeah, but we both know that won’t happen. I mean, I’ve never spoken to the man. You have. Do you think he’d bother with that?”
“Not own his own.”

Summary
After 'The Outcast Incident’ of 2279, The Lone Wanderer disappears. Some people believe he died, some think he went on to ‘fight the good fight’ somewhere else, others still, wonder if The Lone Wanderer ever existed at all. Like most things, the truth is somewhere in between.
When Deacon arrives in the Commonwealth in 2282, he firmly believes he's given up his mantle of 'The Lone Wanderer' and wants nothing to do with his old life. He's content to lend his aid to The Railroad and through them, the people of the 'Wealth. However, as the years draw closer and closer to that fateful 2287 and the turmoil of the Commonwealth becomes impossible to avoid, Deacon will reluctantly realize that The Lone Wanderer isn't a piece of himself that he can shove in a box and ignore.
It's who he is; above all else.
