He hated this nightmare (memory -his traitorous mind insisted). It was bad enough that his actions against the goddess had made Annabeth fear him, had ended his relationship. She had told Piper, and Piper had told the others. It hadn't taken long for word to spread throughout both camps, and now he had to deal with wary gazes and hesitant distance between him and almost everyone else. That should have been punishment enough, but clearly not, because he had to relive it almost every night.

The voice on the other end was undeniably young, and he knew instantly that this was a child, no older than 13 by the sound of it, that was on the other line. He glanced around, but he couldn't see anyone else around, even when he flared his quirk, so it was unlikely that the child was nearby. But that left the question: how did they reach him, and how were they seeing him?
For now, he decided to play dumb, as much as he hated doing so. "What are you talking about? Who is this?"
The child was silent, only the sound of stuttered breaths and frantic typing filling the line. After a moment, the child took a deep, shaky breath. "I k-know you're Eraser, an-nd that you're f-following Miss Joke, but it's a t-trap!"

Summary
Shinso Hitoshi was not a people person, that was one thing he and his sensei, Aizawa, had in common. Neither of them liked the press or interacting with people, and neither of them were really accepted by those people anyway. One would think that being a hero would be horrible work for people like them, but it wasn't, not really. Hitoshi got a lot of satisfaction from saving people's lives, even if they didn't appreciate it, even if they accused him of being the villain. He assumed it was the same for Aizawa-sensei, but he had never really asked, so he wasn't sure.
He was sure, however, that his sensei really cared for him. Aizawa had approached him after the sports festival, offering to mentor him, and Hitoshi had taken him up on it without a second thought.
As they trained, Aizawa learned that Hitoshi was staying in a group home, his parents having abandoned him due to his quirk. As they got closer, Aizawa filled out the paperwork and took Hitoshi and his cat home to meet his husband, the famous Present Mic, though he was told to please, call him Hizashi.
Then, he met the ball of energy that was Kaminari Denki.
The rest was history.
