Summary
Life is perfectly pleasant (if a little dull) for Elphaba and Fiyero seven years after she faked her own death, ran away from her home and left her best friend to rule Oz alone. Nothing ever really changes in the desert outside Oz until, one day, there's a knock at their door announcing the arrival of a young boy who looks identical to Galinda Upland.

He was in every way an exact copy of Galinda.

Glinda Upland, PhD candidate in Sorcery Studies, is writing her dissertation on some old, mysterious magic book called The Grimmerie. The only issue is that she can’t read it. Truthfully, she can’t even open it. No, in a dreadfully unfortunate twist of fate — a joke of destiny, the stars utterly misaligned — only Elphaba Thropp, the grumpified green librarian, can.
Or: Self-indulgent researcher/librarian au featuring musings on people who make things that are meant to last and also an enemies-to-lovers arc for Wicked’s primary throuple — Glinda, Elphaba, and a magical ancient tome.
