As far as Barty could remember, there was always Evan Rosier.
From the first time they had strapped on their karting helmets as kids, side by side, they had been two sides of the same coin. Sometimes, it felt as if the race was meant to be between the two of them, as though every lap, every overtaking maneuver, every small victory had only one purpose: to bring them together.
When Barty finally got into F1 at the age of seventeen, he'd known it'd be a matter of time before his past caught up to him.
And he was right, for 6 years later, as he cemented his place at the top of the sport, the announcement came: Evan Rosier had signed a contract with Ferrari.
If only it was purely a matter of rivalry...

So Barty doesn’t think anything of it when he impulsively climbs into Evan’s bed, possessively wraps an arm around him, and obsessively asks, “You love me, right?”

Summary
Curious, Regulus lifts the knife to his lips, licking remnants of sauce off the flat of the blade. He drags the motion out, all the way to the sharp point, leaving the metallic surface with a flick of his tongue.
It’s a successful experiment. James’ chest rises with his next inhale, throat bobbing as he swallows. Regulus smiles to himself, bringing the knife back to his tongue.
The appearance of a hand on Regulus’ knee under the table, the pressure a bit too firm, distracts him. He turns to his right, where Barty has been deep in conversation with Lily for the last half hour. He’s not looking at Regulus now, but the grip of his fingers, sure to leave an imprint on Regulus’ delicate skin, makes it very clear: he has seen everything.

Summary
Sirius runs away after his 5th year. He goes to the Potters. Before, James and him start their 6th year. Sirius asks James to do something for him. He asks James to take care of Regulus. James obviously accepts because Sirius is his best friend.
James starts getting closer and closer to Regulus. One night he realized he likes Regulus.
What does James do? He kisses Regulus two nights later. The next night he throws a party to forget about Regulus. Did it work? Of course not because Regulus went to the party.
They kiss again, and that leads to... you know.
The day after the party, Regulus and James continue to talk and kiss. They go to Astronomy Tower as usual. They never talked about what they were.
A few weeks later--almost a month-- Sirius finds out. Someone saw James and Regulus kissing at the party. What does Sirius do? He forces James to stop seeing him and start dating Lily. James wasn't even allowed to tell or properly break up with Regulus.

Evan doesn’t know, for sure, that Barty’s doing it to wind him up. Barty's a bit of a loose cannon, completely unpredictable. It's one of Evan’s favourite things about him – most of the time, he has no idea where Barty’s mind is, what he’s going to say or do. He likes being kept on his toes.
He's pretty sure that Barty at least has Evan on his mind when he blows a kiss at a group of giggling girls, though. And he’s almost certain that Barty’s doing it on purpose when he winks at Evan over a guy’s head. When Barty has some man caged against the wall, hands too close to his head, Evan gets a swooping feeling in his stomach. That is, until Barty blatantly turns his head away from the man and stares at Evan, a brow raised as if to say, well?
OR
Barty and Evan are scare actors who enjoy playing with each other far more than playing with their audience.
