Summary
The reason most gestating Vulcans vanish from the public eye during the last phase of pregnancy is not spoken of to outsiders, and Spock is not one to volunteer information even at his own detriment. Coincidentally, that means the physical manifestation of those symptoms are very confusing to the non-Vulcans on board, and Spock is simply trying to make it to the end of the voyage without adding more passengers ahead of schedule. CMO McCoy is having A Time with all of this, and Kirk is just trying to keep the peace until the end of the mission.

On a regular day aboard the Enterprise, the crew gets a message that Ambassador Sarek will come aboard the Enterprise. Spock is upset by this, but only Kirk seems to notice, and only Kirk seems to be able to calm him down.

Spock has a panic attack cause of his dad and Kirk helps him out and they're in love but they don't know it yet and it's all great

"Sure, okay," Jim said doubtfully. It had sounded pretty important to him, but if Spock didn't want to get into it on the bridge, Jim guessed he couldn't blame him. “Who is this Stonn guy, then?”
