“Sure.” Buck hits the button for the bottom floor of the parking garage, where they had parked, and the quiet whirring of the elevator starts up. “I think I have to believe everything happens for a reason. Predestined path or whatever. ”
Eddie scoffs. “You sound like a Catholic.”

“I think I’ve told you to never do that again,” Dean says as he pulls back, his hand still lingers on Cas’ arm, his grip not loosening.
Cas tilts his head, and Dean can’t help but smile. He looks adorable, he always does.
“My apologies.” the angel replies, blunt as always.
There are words on the tip of Dean’s tongue. The words he didn’t get to say before. The ones that he dreads not saying sooner. But Cas is staring at Dean with a mix of sorrow and joy, and Dean can't help but ask, “What’s going on, Cas?”
“It…” Cas blinks, “wasn’t supposed to happen this way. That’s why I’m here.”
Or: Dean does die, which leads him to meet Cas again. And this time, Dean won't leave him, ever again.

The absolute last thing Dean would ever admit, after saving Cas' life, is that it was all thanks to the unhealthy amount of time he spent reading about drowning on Wikipedia.

Castiel doesn’t mind working security duty; he was briefed shortly after the initial salvation of the Sword from the pit, and again before taking up his position. He knows what to do. However, it’s easy to forget that the green room isn’t real. Time moves differently there, the space ever-changing to make a prison of mountains, cathedrals, salt flats, orchards, and whatever Castiel was led to believe about Heaven’s greatest weapon—Dean Winchester is something entirely unexpected.

Dean Winchester knows two things about hockey, two things his dad made sure he knew. One, hockey is a guy’s sport, and two, hockey is family. Hockey meant Sam and Bobby and Benny and Victor and Gabriel and hell, his entire team. So when Victor gets traded, Russian-star-turned-new-teammate Castiel Krushnic becomes a threat. As much as Dean hates him for that, the longer he sticks around, the more he begins to threaten that first rule too. Dean’s been taught his whole life that those who play hockey should not be captivated by deep accented voices and the way a guy handles his stick, so how the hell is he supposed to justify what he’s starting to think about Cas? All Dean wanted at the beginning of the season was to win, and now all he wants to do is figure out how he feels about Cas and how to deal with it without ruining his career and tearing his family apart.

Summary
