Summary
Grigori Rozanov is sixty-two the day his wife commits suicide.
He is sixty-two as he sits in the police car and is informed of the details over the radio by a hoarse voice scraped raw with hours long spent. His son - the youngest one, the one that looks too much like his wife - had called the Militsiya with a wobbling voice and a distraughtness that Grigori would work on improving later, and told them his mother was sleeping and would not wake up.
There are indignities attached to every death.
He is sixty-two when he lies to his two sons that their mother died in an accident.
The lie is made up of two aspects; that it was an accident, and that their mother was dead.
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
OR: Irina Rozanova survives her suicide attempt, and her husband puts her into a psychiatric hospital while telling everyone she died. Fifteen years later, he is dead, and she is released.

Summary
Hermit’s Reach is a town where the wind always smells of salt, the sea hums secrets you don’t want to hear, and the storm never feels far away. To call it ordinary would be a lie - the people, the legends, the things that slip through the cracks of reality, all whisper that the world is older, darker, and hungrier than it appears.
It's been eight years since Pearl's life was abruptly turned upside-down, and four years since she last stepped foot in Hermit's Reach. But it doesn't look like the town is going to cut her a break from its weirdness anytime soon.
Or; There’s something ancient in Hermit’s Reach. Something hungry, something cunning. And somehow, it’s been waiting for her all along.

Summary
Lizzie waves, and gives him what Scar can only infer is a sympathetic smile. “You don’t have to!” She calls, and the end of her words get snuffed in the wind, but Scar understands. She waits a moment, in which Scar doesn’t reply. “I love you!”
“Love you too,” he murmurs, forlorn and resigned to his fate. He gives a light, rather pathetic and limp wave before turning back to the house, a heavy sigh exhaling from his lungs and soothing his mind for a moment but not long enough.
He’s going to die in this stupid house.
He moves forward anyway.
⛧₊ ⊹
ORScar is dared to go into the haunted house on the edge of town, and he's no coward, so he does. At first, the house is creepy but normal, but it's who is inside that changes everything.

Summary
Sweat beaded on Grian’s brows as the birds around him chirped, yet all he could think about was how he didn’t want to be there. In fact, he’d rather be anywhere else - on an embarrassing date, in the lecture hall when a student asked a question he couldn’t answer, anything other than where he was now.
That being standing in the supermarket parking lot, staring at the broken pasta bag on the floor that had toppled to the ground when he’d crashed into Scar. He gnawed at his lip, eyes darting from the man in front of him to the pasta to Scar again, before dropping to the ground. “I’m so sorry, I wasn’t looking-”
“No, it’s fine-” the other professor replied, leaning down a little to help as Grian frantically tried to scoop the pasta shells back into the plastic bag, palms scraping along the asphalt. “Seriously, it happens to everyone.”
“I’ll buy you another bag, what is this- uh-” he tried to tilt the bag without spilling the remaining contents and read the brand name, but gave up when a few more pasta shells slipped out again. “Just, take my card-”
- OR -
Grian ends up paying for Scar's pasta after breaking his original bag, and then gets roped into dinner (a date).
