But he’s more than that too. He’s angry, and he’s a teenager, and he’s someone whose face turns red under the affections of his sister.
Max hasn’t taken anything away from him, because Charles has never really had anything in the first place.

Max has always been aware of the fact that Charles Leclerc lives in his apartment building; however, that has never been a problem until, one day, there’s a knock on his door and when he opens it, Charles is standing there with a sheepish look on his face and a towel tucked under his arm.
“Issue. With the pipes,” Charles starts, looking as awkward about this as Max himself feels. “Can I borrow your shower, maybe? You’re the only person I know who lives close by, and I don’t want to go to the other side of the city to my brother’s.”
There’s a hopeful look on his face. The words finally seem to register with Max. “Um, yeah. Sure.”
Charles grins as he walks past to enter Max’s apartment. “Thanks mate, you’re a lifesaver.”
