Summary
After the untimely passing of her mother Hornet is sent to live with her older step-sibling in Michigan. Hundreds of miles from home and deep in the woods, she isn’t sure what to make of the new life she’s been forced into. Her half-siblings and their friends all seem determined to make her feel welcome with them. They know what she is, how could they not? Most of them share a father…
Her family tries their very best to encourage her to loosen up and embrace the wilder side of herself. Slowly she begins to genuinely grow closer with all of them. Despite this Hornet can’t shake the feeling that something isn’t right. It’s not her family that’s weird, though… It’s the woods.

Hornet must move in with her father’s side of the family after losing her mother, due to her two remaining moms not being recognized as her legal guardians. Not everything is as it seems, but her new family makes a huge effort to help her feel safe and at home. Slowly, she begins to grow close to them.

Vyper is a terrible person. She's killed, maimed, and stolen her way into a hole that she can't possibly escape by herself, and made a string of enemies who keep digging her a deeper grave. After her most recent arrest, she wants so desperately to put her debts behind her.
Paige is by contrast a very good person. She reads books to small children and spends her days either reading or chasing down any semblance of a lead that may get her closer to finding the fate of her younger brother, Bryce. She will do nearly anything for closure. No man or god will stop her.
The two have very different goals, but their paths to success overlap in many ways.

Darcy Graves didn’t really expect to die. She expected to eventually of course, but she never really expected for it to happen directly after the ritual, and she never really expected that her mentor would be the one to kill her either.
What she definitely never expected was the Drifter turning her. Thanks to some mix of pity, boredom, and a desire for amusement he saved her. If you counted being turned into a blood sucking undead as ‘saved’ anyway.
Joining the ranks of those she was trying to honor wasn’t exactly ideal, but there were surely worse fates than being turned into an immortal undead, and it beat bleeding out in an alleyway. Infernus promised to inflict some of them on her if she ever scared her by showing up and bleeding on Jezebel’s floor again.
