Dwarrow are not Hobbits. Unfortunately, being reminded of this in the middle of a diplomatic trip to the Shire with half of Erebor's Court and far too many Took relatives as witnesses is less than ideal for Bilbo.
Thorin may not understand what has driven Bilbo to distraction but given a small bit of privacy, he's more than willing to take advantage of the circumstances.

Thorin is infinitely careful with him these days, something he understands, but Bilbo wants more. Has wanted this since he’d been old enough to understand what his gossipy relatives had meant by the strangeness of dwarves.
He needs more. And now he is going to ask for it, may the Valar bless him.

The Wraith had enslaved the European continent with their nanites and Towers and now they had brought their cursed armies and nanites to the New World, conquering and turning cities as they went until they had an unshakeable foothold. The Blacksmith had been born under the curse of the nanites in the westernmost city of Wraith occupation but all of that was about to change.
