Summary
Sherlock Holmes is almost out of rehab. But after an especially rough day at Scotland Yard, his cravings for cocaine rear their ugly heads. Somehow, as a distraction, he ends up writing a letter to a random soldier in Afghanistan.
John Watson is nearing the end of his second tour in Afghanistan. While his regiment is taking a rest stop at a base, he receives mail from a self-proclaimed consulting detective.
As they learn more about each other through their letters, an unexpected friendship forms between the two men, and it eventually blooms into something more.

Summary
Life feels so chaotic for Shane sometimes, with all the loud noises and the unwritten rules he’s expected to follow, even though no one ever taught them to him. It’s why the bookstore feels more like home to him than anywhere else in Boston. It doesn’t ask Shane to be anything other than himself. Doesn’t ask for any more than he can give.
He can just exist here.
Shane likes slow, likes taking his time. And Ilya - without saying or doing anything in particular - makes Shane feel like that’s okay. Like he isn’t doing anything wrong by standing still sometimes.
(Or, Shane works in a bookstore, Ilya plays hockey, and they both go to the same college. They fall in love in every universe.)

“Ilya,” Hollander breathes, which—Ilya isn’t sure Hollander has ever called him by his first name. Surely he has sometime in seven years of acquaintance? But the sound of it is novel, unfamiliar.
And far from unpleasant.
Then Hollander says, “Baby,” and Ilya knows for certain that he’s never called Ilya that, because it takes the air right out of Ilya’s lungs and makes his guts twist and fuck, he would have remembered if Hollander had ever called him that. Especially in that reverent tone.
It’s nice.
Ilya doesn't remember being married to Shane Hollander. Probably, he should tell someone.
