Phainon looks at him for a moment. He takes a slow sip of his coffee, no longer steaming and fogging his glasses, then offers him a timid smile afterwards. “You can trust me, Mydei.”
“I do,” Mydei ends up saying.
His roommate sits back and laughs, not quite believing it yet. “Did you at least miss me?” he asks suddenly, tilting his head. Just like that, the strange tension dissipates.
My hole was pulsing to the thought of your name. Mydei takes a long, pointed bite of his toast to avoid replying.
Phainon’s grin sharpens into a boyish smirk. “Yeah. Thought so.”
On paper and in his daily life, Mydei pretends to be a beta. It wouldn’t have been any trouble, if only he isn’t attracted to his alpha roommate.

Aventurine is stressed. The knowledgeable Dr. Ratio offers an expert, thorough, only slightly self-indulgent solution.

“I only did it for fun! I didn’t expect that he would actually—”
“—and you expect me to help you and act like I was really the one he’d been texting for the past six months?!”
Absolutely unbelievable. Then again, Mydei should’ve known based on the countless expensive gifts, jewelry, and flowers that kept piling up in their apartment room—things Cipher liked to hoard.
“Uh…Yes?”

Summary
Aventurine, a notorious bandit and thief, has been labeled as Res Nullius by the king's guard. That means if someone catches him, not only can they claim his bounty, his life becomes theirs to do whatever they please with. A desperate cult wanting the attention of the elusive God of Wisdom are the ones to finally capture him, offering him up to their deity as a sacrifice.
They weren't prepared for the deity they summoned to favor the 'sacrifice' far more than his ridiculous cult.
Aventurine has nothing to lose and everything to gain — why would he ever refuse the chance to be mated to a divine being? Really, he's wondering more what this 'Veritas' could possibly want with a defiled human like him, but if gods have strange taste in partners, so be it.
Although, he's about to find out that laying with the fabled 'Serpent-King' comes with unique consequences...
