“Pubill was telling Eric and I about the dinner you went on with him and Llorente the other day,” Pedri pauses, trying to hold in his laughter at the ridiculousness of their teammate’s words. “And then! He goes ‘oh, Ferri likes me better than you now’-”
“That’s not true,” Ferran grumbles, chin resting on Pedri’s sternum, tilting his face down to leave a kiss over his heart. “You’re my favourite.”
“Yes, I know, baby,” Pedri smiles, endeared. “Anyway, before I could say anything, Eric just burst out laughing. He started crying, he was laughing so hard. Poor Pubill thought Eric lost his mind.”

It had been manageable in the first half. Background noise. But England's number ten had spent 120-plus minutes pouring omega pheromones into the pitch like he was marking territory instead of playing football, and by the second half it wasn't background noise anymore.
Extra time made it worse. Fatigue does something to scent control, strips away all the careful discipline these things are supposed to require, and Jude — brilliant, maddening Jude — was radiating pure omega distress-and-triumph in equal parts, like he couldn't decide whether he was winning or breaking Erling's heart. Maybe both.
