“Nothing’s wrong, baby,” Yuuji finally murmurs, low and rough, the words vibrating with the depth of his adoration as he kisses the corner of Megumi’s mouth with aching softness, lingering there as if to seal a silent promise. “Just.. you smell good today. Like, really good.”
Megumi narrows those striking eyes of his, suspicion flickering openly across his sharp features even as the flush climbs higher up his neck, painting the skin of his cheeks and the tip of his nose a pale rose. “You’re being weird,” he says, tone laced with that familiar dry skepticism; though he leans back into Yuuji’s encompassing hold anyway, seeking the warmth and solidity there despite his clear confusion. “Did you hit your head during training again?”

“I was beginning to wonder,” Yuuji said smoothly, “whether the night intended to deprive me of your company.”
Megumi felt his brow arch before he could stop it.
Yuuji smiled. A small, confident curve of his mouth. “It would have been unfortunate,” he continued evenly. “For morale.”
Megumi let out a quiet huff. “For morale.”
“Of the guard,” Yuuji replied easily. Then, without pause, “And my own. I find I perform best when I’ve seen you at least once a day.”
OR Megumi is a prince who must follow through with an arranged marriage in order to protect his sisters. His fathers (Suguru and Satoru) assign Yuuji, Satoru's most trusted knight, to aid Megumi during his travels and protect him from any harm. Along the way, Megumi finds that the only thing Yuuji is unable to protect him from is Megumi's own desires.

Summary
The Fushiguros has been hiding from the Zenin family ever since Toji defected after Megumi was born. Years later, Megumi finds it hard to open up to anyone anymore besides his dad and sister. Yet, Yuuji, a customer at his dad's bar wants seems determined to know him anyway.
The unnamed relationship between Megumi and Yuuji only grows stronger over the time they know each other, even while the Zenin family begins to search in earnest for the Fushiuros.

In the center of the room, in the shadow left by Yuuji’s body, the floor ripples. A black hand laced with deep blue tendrils reaches out of it. Yuuji frowns.
“Hey,” he says softly. He stands and turns fully toward the shadows. The hand reaches out further, revealing an arm. It claws at the floor. “Don’t waste your cursed energy right now.”
