oughfj this fic made me nauseous absolutely incredible..... i absolutely adore how emma was written here to be so Unlikeable (for lack of better wording). so many fics tackling her & otacon's childhoods go all in on how creepy julie was (it's an easy thing to write about, as disgusting as it is, because her actions are so unequivocally evil + she only exists in canon as a spectre of those actions) but completely sidestep the fact that emma has feelings for her brother (a much less easy thing to write about, considering how she's a sort of martyr figure to otacon later and is otherwise Supposed to be likeable)
all of that to say!!! having a fic like this that takes all of what we're told in canon and runs a marathon with it is awesome i love you emma emmerich you are so unbelievably fucked up
also the scene with snake making her do physical therapy was so silly i love it

You, of course, know this vividly. Knew it as he bled out in your arms, knew it as you reported it to Block. Knew it as you met with his sobbing mother and her hands banged against your chest, as if she hit you hard enough her boy would come back.
But love never saved anyone. You knew this as you held the love of your life in your arms and felt the death rattle shake his voice and chest like it did your babcia years ago.
Just another fic where Dakota is the one that dies and Cavendish goes back. Eventually. And the time in-between those two events.

OH MY GODDDDDD . OH MY GOD... fucking wow i have no words... i'm a sucker for second person fics first of all so 8 gajillion points for that but everything about this is so???beautiful??? heartshattering??? the families written for cav and dakota the .conversation with vin's mom about how she Knew he was from another timeline how she'd lost him twice. the way every single sentence is so deeply intertwined with so much love and care and implies So much about the lives they've lived outside of canon & outside of this fic.... i don't even know what to do with myself op i'm on my knees sobbing and wailing are you aware you wrote a fucking masterpiece. oh my gos

However, he simply refuses to accept their fate, and vows to save Dave at all costs. As he fights to keep them both safe from the dangers all around them, and as he races the clock against the infection brewing in Dave’s lungs, he doesn’t notice that his own time is running out.

guagahagshdbgewh this is so sweet and sad and i wanna tear my hair out i love them ... the stakes were so high here (i lovelovelove fics where otacon is periled in a different but similarly horrific way during the tanker aftermath) not to mention!!! i'm always gonna go nutty over any references to the mgs4 novelization. excellent fic i'm framing it on my wall
