Summary
Sunset Shimmer didn't expect a single thing she'd run into the moment she stepped through the portal into the human world. She certainly didn't expect to be roped into her living situation by some crazy guy with some strange sense of 'responsibility', whatever that meant. Nor was she exactly thinking she'd end up finding people she could consider... acquaintances. She just wanted to go through the portal, make something of herself, and then return to Equestria to prove to the Sun Goddess that she was somepony, that she was worth something, and that she deserved to be treated with respect.
That she was better than anypony who dared to try to get in her way of her destiny.
Was that really so much to ask for?

He had said those words before—many times—and she hadn’t challenged them. But now, facing away from him, with so many confessions already spoken tonight, the words slipped out before she could stop them: “I don’t believe you.”
Elphaba doesn't believe she's beautiful. That is so wildly outside of Fiyero's perception of the world it briefly breaks his brainless brain.
