Alright, let's do this one last time.
I am theonewhowas and for the last ten years I've been writing self-indulgent, self-insert Worm fanfic. I show up, I copy peoples' powers, I faff about, you know the drill. I've done it straight, I've done it twisted, I did it in a relationship dumpster fire, and I've got more WIP variants (for myself, for others, and with others) than I'd care to mention. You've seen me shapeshift (cool!), forcibly change my gender (oh no!), accept my gender (shock!), beat up Nazis (yay!), and generally learn a lot about myself. So why am I doing it again?
Well, a lot has changed in the last decade. I discovered I was trans, changed my name, moved across the country, and tried to carve a niche where me and my loved ones can live in a world that has increasingly gone mad (and is only getting worse). I got back into writing Wormfic with Taylor Kills Nazis, and looked back on my first serious fic with thoughts of 'wow that's a lot of bad fanon' and 'did I really woobie Purity? I really need to fix that.'
So I'm doing it again, but this time, Even More Completely Unoriginal.

so so good. it's not doing anything dramatically innovative, but my god is it doing it well. some of the most human-feeling characters i've ever had the pleasure of reading in not just fanfic but fiction in general. and an unbelievably satisfying ending; closure like i've rarely met in fandom.

to adequately communicate just how strongly I recommend this would require paragraphs, but I will at least say this now: this is, I think, the best fiction I have read in years. certainly some of the most thought-provoking.

Summary
The Battle at the Bank has far more severe results as Grue punches Vista a little too hard. The young Ward cracks her head on the pavement and dies instantly. Unbeknownst to all, Vista’s shard had similar plans as another rogue shard in the network. Brian finds himself inflicted with Vista’s voice in his head and a new power. He has no time to process this as Kid Win takes immediate revenge with his giant cannon. Tragedy after tragedy occurs until only one cape survives. This story is about the aftermath.

one of the more authentic and kind and introspective depictions of blurry plurality I've ever had the pleasure of encountering. also some of the best character work in the fandom; Lisa and Carlos and Taylor especially are just so delightfully off the rails. easy top ten wormfics, no question.
