Dave had hoped that Alan didn’t notice how he would sometimes look at him with longing in his eyes. How Dave had hoped he would be at the receiving end of that sly smirk or the easy and charismatic flirting that had poured so naturally from Alan. And Dave didn’t dare to hope that the jealousy that appeared in Alan’s eyes when girls and the occasional bloke would drape themselves all over Dave wasn’t because Alan wanted to be the one doing it. That Alan actually wanted Dave like Dave wanted him. Because Alan was always there for Dave. And he wanted to be there for Alan.
