Louis and Lestat divorced eight years ago and, in that time, have been for the lack of a better word ignoring each other, while also co-parenting Claudia. When she graduates high school though, she has the idea of going on a "family holiday" to celebrate this milestone. Louis hates the idea but can't say no to his daughter. But he is adamant that he will spend the whole trip spending as little time in Lestat's presence as humanly possible. No complicated feelings and no dredged-up memories. Right?

Lestat made a sound like a scoff. "Mon cher," he sighed, "You can drop the act now."
It was unacceptable, how much Lestat could see through him. So unacceptable that it was humiliating. "There is no act," he got out.
