Sid and Nate exchange another glance.
“Oh,” Mitch mumbles, the realisation finally dawning on him. Sid and Nate are rooming together because they are together.

The heart of the commotion is on the other side of the rink, reporters buzzing around players to ring in the season like bees in spring. This end of the building is dead quiet, completely abandoned until the season starts up. Remote enough for Sid to slip away for a bit and get a minute of peace and quiet.

Summary
So Nate seals his fate and asks “what, really?” and Sid shrugs and smiles and replies “yeah, it’s just this yearly ritual,” like that’s a normal thing to say. Because ritual is Sid-speak for absolutely batshit insane superstition that I’ve talked myself into repeating because I’m a crazy person.
Sid hasn’t gotten rid of the mustache yet. Nate’s joke about it goes a little too far. And apparently neither of them are about to back down from gay porn chicken.
