Summary
If someone were to ask Mack how he and Will first met, he’d tell them that he doesn’t remember. That would be a lie.
Will moved in next door to Macklin when they were both four years old. Their windows look into each other’s rooms, and one day, Mack had scribbled on a big sheet of paper “doo u wanna b frens?!”, held it up to the window, and the rest was history.
Now, if someone were to ask him how long he’s known he was in love with Will, Mack would splutter, turn red in the face, and vehemently deny any such thing. They’ve been best friends for as long as he can remember, and that’s it. But that would be a lie, too.
Macklin doesn’t let himself think too hard about it. Everything is completely and totally fine. He is not losing his mind over possibly being in love with his best friend for the past thirteen years of his life because that would make him a bad friend. Who goes and falls in love like that? It’s stupid, so Mack doesn’t let himself dwell on it for too long.
Everything is fine.
OR: Macklin Celebrini falls in love with one Will Smith over their senior year winter break.

Summary
It had been a fairly normal start of season, development camp having long since ended, but not long before the beginning preseason exhibition games. Macklin Celebrini relished in the start of a new season, the last one was good, but there was something about not being a rookie anymore that made excitement thrum in his veins, and if that was anything to go by, he had a good idea of how everything would go.
With his blooming relationship with Will and with the start of a great practice with the Sharks, things felt good, better than good even. So maybe Mack shouldn’t have been surprised when things started to get strange.
All of these changes centre around one person. The new assistant coach.
