Summary
Goro Akechi, 11, moves into a new foster home in Inaba in the middle of summer. He’s been in and out of foster homes for the past four years. He knows the routine: don’t get attached to anyone or anything. As always, the foster family will decide not to keep him.
But the messy-haired kid next door doesn’t know about Akechi’s self-imposed rules and is set on befriending Akechi no matter what. The neighbour kid, Ren, intrigues Akechi to no end, and he finds himself agreeing to hang out with Ren despite all logic, saying he shouldn’t get attached. What sorts of shenanigans can two boys get up to in such a small town? Will Akechi allow himself to live in the moment, or will his fears about this ending be too much for him to bear?
